SIGN YOUR CLASS UP FOR THE TRIP OF THE YEAR!

Scheduling a field trip for your class at Granary Road is a simple 5 step process.

1. Please read all of the information about scheduling, payment, supervision and behavior policies located after the Sign Up Form below.

2. Fill out the entire Sign Up Form making sure that you’ve selected the program or exhibits you would like to visit. Note that the entire park is available to you and your students and that the program you choose will help us schedule time in the Learning Kiosks you are most interested in.

3. Click the “Submit” button to send your Sign Up Form to us.

4. A Field Trip Planning Advisor will contact you by phone to confirm your reservation and collect payment. Please fill out and submit separate forms for each field trip date you wish to schedule. If you wish to schedule a morning program and an afternoon program for the same day you must submit 2 separate forms.

WHEN TO BOOK YOUR FIELD TRIP

Please submit your electronic Field Trip Sign Up Form 2 or more weeks prior to your selected date. School Program bookings for Spring & Fall 2018 are now open. Programs are booked on a first-come, first-served basis, so please book as early as possible to secure your preferred dates.

FIELD TRIP FEES

$12 + GST per student.

Groups of 20+ will receive free admission for teachers and chaperones up to a 1:5 ratio of teachers/chaperones to students. Teachers and chaperones for groups with less than 20 students will be charged $12 per person.

Teachers and chaperones that surpass the 1:5 ratio will be charged $12 per teacher or chaperone. For example: A field trip that includes 30 students + 7 teachers or chaperones will be charged 30 x $12 = $360 + $12 for the 1 additional teacher/chaperone over the 5:1 ration for a total of $372 +GST

Maximum program size is 30 students + teachers and chaperones.

If there are over 30 students, you will need to book 2 program reservations. This policy is in place in order to provide the optimal learning experience and safest environment for each student and supervisor.

For special needs students that require attendants/aides; the attendant/aide will receive complimentary admission by showing their Access2card or equivalent professional agency staff identification (staff ID or business card AND identification).

PAYMENT

A downpayment of half of the entire fee is required at the time of booking using any major credit card. A Granary Road Field Trip Planning Advisor will contact you shortly after receiving your Field Trip Sign Up Form to confirm your reservation and collect your downpayment. If we receive you Field Trip Sign Up Form within 1 month of your scheduled field trip date full payment is required. You will be contacted within 1 month of your field trip date to finalize your booking by processing your credit card information for the remaining balance. Prices include gate admission for students, teachers and adult chaperones. Once your program is booked and payment is processed, you will receive an email with a copy of your receipt, as well as, a confirmation letter. Please review the receipt and letter carefully to confirm the details of your booking, most pre-visit questions will be answered in this letter. It also contains important Granary Road policies and information.

CANCELLATIONS OR DATE CHANGES

Cancellations & date changes will be charged an administration fee of:

  • $50 if the cancellation or date change is received a minimum of THREE (3) weeks prior to the program date
  • NO REFUNDS will be issued for cancellations or date changes received less than THREE (3) weeks prior to the program date.

If your school board will not allow you to travel due to inclement weather, we will try to reschedule your program. If we are not able to reschedule, you will receive a refund minus a $50 administration fee.

SUPERVISION POLICIES AND CHAPERONE RATIOS

All field trips are self-guided. The simple to use video programming in the Learning Kiosks and the Learning Walls have been designed to allow teachers to easily navigate all aspects of the park and provide their students with a rich learning experience.

Teachers count as a chaperone.
Adult supervisors/chaperones must be 18 years or older.
Students under 12 years of age must be in supervised groups at all times.
You are provided a specific number of free chaperone tickets to ensure your school group has adequate supervision.
Any extra adults and children are welcome to enjoy the park (with paid admission), shop at the Granary Road Market or relax with a coffee and a meal at The Grist Restaurant & Bakery for the duration of the program and while your class is inside the park.

The student/chaperone numbers are based on the Alberta Education guidelines as well as our Learning Kiosk occupancy limits. They are in place for safety and to preserve the quality and integrity of our programming. You are only required to meet your school board required chaperone ratio, see below for the ratio we suggest:

Grade Level K-3

If you have considerably more students you must purchase an additional program. If you slightly exceed the maximum number of students please contact a Granary Road Field Trip Planning Advisor at: (403) 453-7623.

BEHAVIOUR

The teachers and supervisors that accompany each class are responsible for all student behaviour will at Granary Road. Our staff is available through out the park to answer questions and to help with the programming in the Learning Kiosks. They are not there to police your class. If students are persistently disruptive or disrespectful, your program may have aspects curtailed due to safety reasons or students/classes may be asked to leave the park.
